Remembrance Day Ceremony 2017

Remembrance Day Ceremony 2017

For our Remembrance day commemoration the students and staff of OLPA were grateful for Mrs. Halinka (Halina) Jamrozinski who spoke about her childhood in her war-torn home of Poland. The hardships which she experienced during WWII were many. The smiling faces of teachers, morning prayer and crosses vanished and were replaced by sadness, fright and salutations to Stalin. Their flight to Germany meant leaving behind possessions, home and pets and never return there. Her family was separated and living in fear and hunger. She was 21 years old when she moved to Canada longing for freedom. Her message to the children and all present was ” Be thankful for our Veterans. Be thankful four the Country you live in. God save our Country, bless our Veteran’s and you all.”
